Scott Catalogue No. 1972 |
|
From a set of 19 military uniform stamps. Like several other stamps depicting bagpipes not native to the stamp-issuing country, there are problems with the illustration. The pipe only has two drones, and the shorter looks to be a baritone rather than tenor. The chanter, with a pronounced bell at its mouth, has a profile like a continental European pipe rather than one from the Highlands. Hand position is tentative and it looks like this piper is struggling not to puff out his cheeks. No comment about the brown shoes. (Can they be correct? The horror!) |
